So, some 'specialist' has determined that the Morton school cannot be rehabbed...IIRC another ‘specialist’ said that about the old Durfee High
IIRC it was determined to be so dilapidated that it was no place to send our children to school BUT, later on after some work was done to the building it was used as a day care center!! I guess that our little ones are tougher than our teenagers.
I'll bet anyone $100.00 that if you give it to any one of several local real estate investors, so his cost basis is the same as the city's, they could have it miraculously rehabbed in record time, close to its original estimates for a total cost that would not be anywhere near as astronomically high as the price they are going to saddle MASS & FR taxpayers with, for the new school. The only incentive needed would be to tell them their profit would be a 25%, of the savings realized by the taxpayers, of the current estimate for the cost to build it. Then just get out off their way.

And I have a second wager for you....If it does get rehabbed by anyone other than the city of FR the current Morton school building, will outlast the new building that the state or city builds to replace it.
