As I drive a lot for work, I have the opportunity to listen to the radio (WSAR) quite a bit during the day. Today I got so sick of hearing Bernie Sullivan read the same (very long) and self-serving speech about what a wonderfully generous person Bobby Karam is. The Karam's own WSAR. I guess he gave a donation to the Morton School. This speech went on on on about how Bobby Karam gave "thousands" of dollars of his own money to buy computers for the school. Without the Karam donation the students of Fall River would not be able compete with students in other schools. Karam this, Karam that... on and on and on about how the city is indebted to Bobby Karam. It seemed like every time I got back on the road I was listening to this same self serving speech being repeated.
The principle of the school thanked him. Isn't that enough ? What type of person would go to that extreme to use their radio station to constantly repeat the same message to make sure everyone knew that he made a donation? What is the point of this aggressive advertising campaign to make sure that everyone knows that he gave the school "thousands of his own money" ? Are we all expected to thank him if we see him in public ?
