If you are getting a new 800 #, you have to order it from a Verizon, ATT, Sprint, etc. DO NOT COMMIT to a contract. As soon as you get the line in place you want to transfer it to a discount carrier. If you have an 800# now.. are you paying more than 5 cents a minute? Are you paying a monthly fee of $10 to $15 per line ? If you answered yes to either of these, your overpaying.

Check out IDT (http://www.idt.net/business/) telephone. This is a huge company, on the NYSE, and they have been around forever. They are a true discount telephone company with no scams or hidden charges. It's 5 cents a minute. period. No per line charge, no contracts. no setup, no bullshit. They are from New Jersey, and their customer service can be a bit rude, but no worse than Verizon in India.
They bill in 30 second increments, and give you a full detailed understandable bill at the end of the month. You can put all your lines on one account, 800#, regular lines, home phone, and have a single bill with a detailed breakdown each month. Check them out. I realize it's a pain in the ass to call and spend 1/2 hour on the phone to move the lines, but you will save every month for as long as you have these lines.

p.s. If you are traveling out of the country, and need a calling card, You cannot beat IDT's Global calling card. Check it out on their site.
