Dear Mr. Mayor,
This constant whining and complaining about past administration and management is getting awful tired, and expensive. If the Mayor's job is more difficult than you expected, well so be it. But what purpose does this non-stop sniping and attacks on prior city management serve? Ok..so in your opinion the former Mayor was incompetent, same for the former fire chief, same for the city employees you fired (as was your right). But enough of the whining. Nobody's buying it. Everyday you read the State of MA and R.I. are both short hundreds of millions of dollars. Cities everywhere are struggling to pay the bills. Business's are closing at record levels. In case you are not aware...these are difficult times. There does not have to be a bad guy. Do you and your staff have that much extra time on your hands that you can prepare and present a "lengthy presentation and question-and-answer-session" to the Herald news for no other reason than to bolster your image as the savior of Fall River ? Since you like to throw figures around, tell us how much it cost us in man-hours to prepare this pointless presentation? Please tell us precisely what purpose it serves to waste all this time and taxpayer money to try to point the finger at anyone? Will it help us get better? Will it help you look better?
I think the general opinion of the former Mayor is that he is a decent, honest, hardworking guy that did the best he could for Fall River. Many would say that he did a great job. Were you expecting to walk into a city flush with extra cash, and have a cake-walk term as mayor? Let's see if you can leave it that way for the next guy. Many business's and governments try management strategies that are a huge success. Some are massive failures. Does that mean the management is incompetent? Just because you may disagree with another management decision does not mean that they are wrong and incompetent.
I would suggest that if you have some tangible hard evidence of blatant wrongdoing by anyone, than show us. Other than that, it would probably be a good idea to just "zip it" and get back to work.
Oh.. and please stop your whining. It's really annoying.
