Sunday, the Town of Tiverton, suffered a double tragedy. A man drowned and a firefighter gave his life trying to save him. Fox news had the story on the 10PM Newscast. They didn't identify the firefighter and victim, rightfully so, but did have a news team covering the story. Our great home town radio station made NO mention of this until later in the morning. Our great Herald News, you know, the one going up to 75 cents at the newsstands, didn't even have a mention of it in the morning edition. It wasn't until 1PM today when they had a story on line. How can the media from Providence be able to cover the story and our local media, you know, the radio station that always claims "you heard it here first" not even have a mention until hours later. I guess it wasn't political news or Bernie Sullivan couldn't write a homily blasting Lambert because of an unfortunate incident in a neighboring town. Every neighboring Fire Dept., Fall River, Westport, Portsmouth, Dartmouth, Little Compton, all responded to assist their neighboring brothers. I'm sure that they will continue to support the Tiverton Firefighters through this difficult ordeal. Its just too bad out local media prefers political stories over human beings who sacrifice their lives.
