Aside from the worse slogan ever, I have a big problem with the way the SOME of the police officers in this fine city of fall river. Now I know a lot of the city's officers do a good job some of them are just a waste of taxes.
Now I got pulled over the other day for a out headlight in the highland area, which is fine but is it completely necessary to have 2 more cops arrive and stay there til I leave. Why do 3 cops have to be here after he already approached the car and there was CLEARLY no threat or anything wrong at all.
Another thing is I live in the diman area and there are kids down the street who are always outside working on their cars and not disturbing anyone or causing any trouble and police are ALWAYS passing by. At least 3 different cruisers in an hour and this is a good neighborhood. And not only are they just passing by but they are pulling over just about every car that they see leave for no apparent reason. They never speed off or do anything wrong that I see and I always see lights now in a neighborhood that I never saw police at all a year or two ago. Those kids could be gangbanging or drinking and doing or selling drugs but all their ever doing is working on their cars so leave them alone and find yourself a spot where your needed. MAYBE IN THE GHETTO NOT ON MY NICE QUIET STREET. YOU ARE THE ONES THAT ARE STARTING TROUBLE!

Keri Rodrigues from WSAR wrote a guest blog yesterday on one of my favorite local blogs, "A View From Battleship Cove" http://aviewfrombattleshipcove.blogspot.com/ that you might find interesting. She assisted a Fall River resident with a problem he was having with the police department and chronicled it in the blog.

Shamrock, that's a pretty amazing story. FR Police have a good reputation as being "straight shooters" on most issues. You hear very, very, little negative feedback about the FRPD, and especially Chief Sousa. I think it's just a fact of life that cops "take care of" each other, but in this case they were forced to do a quiet "about face" thanks to an intervention from a vociferous media person.
Kerry gets a big thumbs up.

Will say, I have no problems with the police. Friday they were busting the johns around my area and that is all good with me. I think the police were just taking precautions because of all the violence in the city. Three police officers is really not that much, though it is unusual near Diman.

This must be big news if it was obvious enough for the Herald News to pick up on it! http://www.heraldnews.com/homepage/x899758387
The FRPD is investigating the officer's report. Good job to Keri Rodrigues for investigating!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fall River — Police are investigating an accident report filed by an officer.
Spokesman Sgt. Thomas Mauretti said police are conducting an internal investigation into a car accident involving Officer Peter Gancarski.
Mauretti said the department’s Office of Professional Standards investigated a matter from earlier this month involving Gancarski’s report of a two-car accident involving a cruiser he was driving.
Mauretti said a supplemental report has been added to Gancarski’s initial report as a result of the probe. Gancarski has been accused of authoring a report that placed blamed for the accident on the other driver.
Mauretti said no decision had been made on any potential penalties against the officer.
“The case is ongoing internally at this time,” Mauretti said. “There has been no determination on leave at this time and the final determination is ongoing.”
