Hey Everyone,
With the day off from work and nothing else to do on this gray and rainy President's day, Josh and I went out for a drive around the city. Not only did we see a bunch of abandoned store carriages laying around the streets, but also an absurd amount of trash. Trash everywhere-in bushes, in the back of The Harbour Mall, all along the streets we traveled and what's worse, even downtown along South Main St. which is supposed to be the heart of the city! Why doesn't this new mayor whom is supposed to "bring changes to the city" and "get things done" start out with something as simple as cleaning the streets. Yes, to be fair he has only been in office for a month and a half, but this should be the first thing on the list. In order for this city to hopefully become what it once was, it should at least look the part. You know the old saying, "fake it 'till ya make it"!!

Just wondering, how much trash did you and Josh pick up along the way???? Easy to say someone else should do the cleaning up, isn't it!
The people who live in this community have to take some steps to clean up Fall River themselves. This is simply a pride in your self and pride in your city issue. If you take a good look around, you'll soon see there isn't any pride in anything here. The majority are lazy, won't work to take care of their own children, half are crackheads, all looking for someone else to do everything for them. Why should the Mayor make the first move, why don't some of the citizens here meet one weekend and pick up the trash in their own neighborhoods? We all know why, you would have to be responsible and put down your cell phone and your crack pipe long enough to do that.

I hate to be the one that complains but I have to look at trash behind the new Letourno School which is behind KMART everyday. The trash builds up in a xorner that is adjacent to my back yard (5 Progress St) and blows trash over into my yard constantly.
I have placed numerous calls to DPW and to the mayors office. Nothing gets done. Why do I have to look at someone elses trash everyday.
Can anyoine help.
Thanks

Call your City Councilor. Maybe they can help, maybe not. But if your not satisfied with the response, FIRE them next time you vote. What type of response do you get from the Mayor's office, and the DPW? Please share it with us.

You know what?...We do clean up around our neighborhood every single day like everyone else should be doing too. It isn't realistic to even say, "how much trash did you and josh pick up along the way?" That is the job of city workers and guess who is in charge of them genius?...Hmmm...the mayor! So, yes, Tomorrow I think I'll go around with a big black trashbag and clean up around your neighborhood. Itls better when someone does all the work, isn't it?!

You may have noticed....it isn't me wanting the Mayor to "fix" the trash problem in Fall River.......My street is clean.......not because the Mayor sends the "boys" to do it, but because we are a proud bunch of neighbors......My money says you expect someone else to do everything for you.......bet you think "the government" is a person!!!!! YOU, JOSH, and all of us ARE Fall River......so, if you picked up a little trash it wouldn't kill ya!.....but I doubt that you do. You're just one of those that "gripes" with no action.......

say it like it is .good 4 u . u know what half these people aren't even locals . fr has changed so much in the last 5 yrs because of new comers who r what u say and that makes it look bad 4 the new comers that aren't
someone had a good idea by chaining a barrel to a fence and painting Litter Barrel on it near my street, after that came around the area became alot cleaner. although it may not be litter-free its still a big step.

It is a shame that people dont take pride in their city. I live in a house where there are 4 apartments... Out of the 4 only 2 apartments are able to find the trash can... The other two dont care and just throw their trash in the back yard where ever.
I hate walking down the street and seeing children and even grown adults open up something and throw the wrapper on the ground.... COME ON now how hard is it to put the wrapper in a pocket? in the bag you are carrying? in a purse? Or even throw it in someones can on the side of the street...
My daughter got in trouble one time for throwing trash (a lollipop wrapper) on the ground... Let me tell you she hasn't done it since... I see all the wrappers in her pockets during laundry time. LOL
I like the idea that Ryan posted about the Litter Barrel...

However, as for me voluntarily going over and picking up the dead chicken carcass that my neighbor left in the street - forget it!
Laura :D
Is there any white meat left on it? And exactly where is this broiled chicken dinner located ? :D
